A Web 2.0 Conference worth attending
OK, so the movers and shakers may be upset that a certain trademarked (service marked?) conference on Web The Deuce is sold out. No big deal. Wrox authors and readers don't want to listen to pontification on VC and business models. You want code. Code may not be glamorous but it gets the job done. The answer?
Go to Fawcette/Thunder Lizzard's Web Builder 2.0 Conference instead. The development track appears to be real coding sessions. The site is still a little sparse on who is speaking on what topics and for me, that might make signing up before the Sept 18 early bird discount reg deadline a little dicey but I also know that Fawcette will line up good people.
Or of course, you can always just suggest to people that they buy Professional Web 2.0 Programming by Eric van der Vlist, Danny Ayers, Erik Bruchez, Joe Fawcett (no relation to the company, note the correct different spelling), Alessandro Vernet instead.
Disclaimer: Yes, I worked there from 2000-02 and still have a soft spot for the company despite them laying me off. :)
And Scoble, another former FTP'r that he is, should be supporting Fawcett too instead of buying his Deuce ticket on E-Bay. Maybe he is supporting them and I missed the post. I can can't read fast enough for his blog. (Can't type either today.)
